We do our best to match our dogs up with the best home for their unique personality. This usually takes time. If you are anxious to get the perfect dog tomorrow, rescue may not be your best avenue. However, it does happen quite fast sometimes. That is the nature of rescue.
Once you adopt a dog from ROAR, you are considered part of our extended family. Make no mistake, once the adoption is complete, the dog is yours……..although we do enjoy getting occasional updates and photos of the dog and his/her new family.
Again, thank you for your time and patience in completing our forms and we look forward to helping you find your companion for life!
APPLY – When you see a dog that you are interested in, please fill out our online Adoption Application. We ask many questions, all of which will help us decide whether you and the rescue dog you are interested in will be a good fit. Our questions are simply initial guides for determining possible matches. Make sure to fill out the application completely. When you press SUBMIT, the form will automatically be emailed to ROAR.
TELEPHONE INTERVIEW - An adoption coordinator will call you and conduct an informal interview over the phone to get to know you, review your application and talk more in detail about the dog you are interested in. If at this time you are still interested in the meeting the dog, your references will be checked.
MEET THE DOG – Once your application is approved, we will contact you to make arrangements for a visit with the dog. Please select a time when all decision makers, including current dogs, can visit together. We recommend that, before your appointment, you read our Adoption Contract.
ADOPTION – Should the adoption counselor and the family feel that a good match has been made; the adoption can be completed at the time of your visit
FOLLOW UP – Your adoption counselor will follow up with you to make sure you are enjoying your new family member and answer any questions you may have. Please know that, at any time in the future, ROAR will be available to help in any way we can.
UPDATES – Although this step is optional, ROAR would love to get the occasional note or photo letting us know how your new companion is doing.
